Life’s Happenings

Just when you think thing’s are going well, wham! along comes another trial.  But I have to stop and think ….don’t they make us stronger?  Well here it is in a nut shell.  I awoke on Wednesday morning with partial paralysis on the left side of my face.  Alarmed I called and made a doctors appointment.  Other than the paralysis I felt perfectly fine, well almost.
I found out from the doctor that I have Bell’s Palsy.  At least that is what they are calling it until they get the results from the MRI that I had to endure.  Have you ever been wrapped in warm blankets , had earplugs put in your ears, a football helmet on your head , told to place your hands on top of your thighs,(I didn’t know my arms would go in that position), and then shoved in a small tube and told to not panic, lay very still and not to be alarmed at the odd noises I would be hearing for the next 30 minutes.  Whew! that is a real test of my insanity.  I already think I hear noises.   Maybe they really are watching me?  Oh well, back to reality.  As I was saying I hope the MRI will turn out ok. They might actually find out I have a brain!  Seriously the doc. put me on a strong antibiotic and a steriod to reduce the inflamation.  Apparently Bell’s Palsy is casued my a viral infection.  So hopefully I will return to some semblance of normalcy in a few weeks!
I do hope you all will pray for me to recover quickly there are a few irrating side effects.  I would hate to have to start school with the left side of my face drooping!  I might scare the kids to death.
While going into the “tube” for the MRI the first thing I could thing of was Lord help me to stay calm and not panic.  I prayed, quoted the 23rd Psalm and thought about my kids and what they were probably doing to my house at that moment.  God really blessed and helped to calm my stretched nerves and here I am the next day none the worst and with my warped sense of humor to boot.  Praise God!

Rambling greetings from a first time blogger!

Welcome and Greetings!  Well here I am finally joining the world of blogging.  I really don’t know what I am doing but we are going to fumble through this together, right? You are out there supporting me,  right?  Huh? Hello out there…..out there…….out there!!!!!!!!!
Oh well here goes, We the seven barrs, no, really not just three, live in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I am currently teaching in the high school at Aldersgate Christian Academy or otherwise known as GBS academy.  I am getting ready for my second year here.  I guess this is the point where I list all my children and there accomplishments.  Tiffany our oldest will be a junior in college in the missions department at GBS.  Nichole, next in line is working on medical at Cinci State College.  Jocilyn will be a senior in high school, that is if we can finish up her last two homeschooling subjects this summer, Yea!  Letha, who just now after taking the world’s quickest bath informed me that, ears?, she never cleans her ears, will be in 4th grade.  And last but certainly not least is Dakota who is 4.  Doesn’t that simply say it all?
Allen is currently rather engrossed in the “body snatching” industry at this time.  He currently is able to bench press an 800 pound guy.  Well maybe with a little help.  His job certainly keeps life interesting.  Well that about does it for the human side of the family we will save the rest for our Christmas xerox letter.
